[P1]: Final

Project One revolved around the hierarchy of text on a page and using a grid. Given a limited amount of material to work with, we were challenged to explore various compositions by manipulating the arrangement and display of the typography. We were to discover what kinds of changes would create new interpretations of the layouts. The project was divided into three different phases, each of which was regulated by a set of guidelines for designing fifteen compositions. The further we dove into the project, the less confining the rules became, and the more freedom we had to be creative.

Overall, I really enjoyed exploring various ways to manipulate hierarchy in a composition, and I think I did a good job with what we were given. I love working in InDesign, so even though there were a lot of compositions to design and refine, I enjoyed doing it. There came a point, however, when I hit a road block and felt as though I had run out of ideas. It really challenged me to push my thought process and creativity to come up with more designs. In the end, I think I ended up with a variety of very successful compositions, and I’m very happy with how my project turned out.

These are my final three compositions, one from each phase:

PHASE 1

PHASE 2

PHASE 3
